Wizkid Reportedly Surpasses 12 Billion Spotify Streams, Sets New African Music Milestone

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has reportedly crossed 12 billion Spotify streams across all credited appearances, marking a major milestone for African music. However, independent tracking platforms show differing totals, and Spotify has not been cited as officially confirming the figure.

Nigerian music star Wizkid has reportedly surpassed 12 billion total streams on Spotify, adding another significant milestone to his international career and reinforcing Afrobeats’ growing presence in the global music industry.

The achievement was reported on Monday, October 26, 2026, with music statistics account WizStatz crediting the singer with becoming the first African artiste to cross the 12-billion mark across all credited appearances.

The total includes streams from songs where Wizkid is the lead artiste, as well as tracks on which he appears as a featured performer or collaborator. However, independent tracking platforms have published different figures, meaning the reported milestone should be treated with that qualification.

‘One Dance’ Contributes to Wizkid’s Streaming Success.

One of the major contributors to Wizkid’s international streaming numbers is One Dance, Drake’s 2016 hit featuring the Nigerian singer and British vocalist Kyla.

The song became a global success and introduced Wizkid to a wider audience beyond Africa. Its continued popularity has helped sustain his presence on streaming platforms years after its release.

Another important record is Essence, his collaboration with Tems from the 2020 album Made in Lagos. The song gained international recognition in 2021, particularly after a remix featuring Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.

Together with songs such as Ojuelegba, Joro and Come Closer, these records have helped establish Wizkid as one of Nigeria’s most internationally recognised music exports.

Another Milestone for Afrobeats.

Wizkid’s reported achievement reflects the growing global audience for Nigerian music and the role of streaming services in helping African artistes reach listeners worldwide.

The singer reportedly crossed 10 billion Spotify streams in January 2026 and reached 11 billion in May, before the latest 12-billion claim emerged.

Nevertheless, streaming figures differ across independent trackers. A report published by Pulse Nigeria noted that Kworb’s October 25 update placed Wizkid’s total at approximately 11.66 billion streams, below the reported 12-billion mark.

Spotify has not been cited as officially confirming the latest record.

Despite the discrepancy, the reports have renewed attention on Wizkid’s enduring catalogue, international collaborations and contribution to the worldwide growth of Afrobeats.

As Nigerian music continues to attract audiences across continents, the reported milestone provides another indication of the genre’s growing reach and commercial influence.
