Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how a stray bullet injury in March 2026 disrupted his career and left him fearing he might never perform the same way again.
In a YouTube video published on October 21, Shaggi said the incident happened on March 9 after a brand activation in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. He was in traffic when he heard a loud bang and later discovered that he was bleeding from his hip.
He said he lost consciousness before reaching the hospital and initially feared for his life.
Injury disrupted his career
Shaggi explained that the injury affected his ability to dance and perform; key parts of his entertainment career. Being away from work for months also made him worry that fans might forget him.
To stay productive during his recovery, he said he returned to writing and began developing a YouTube series while receiving treatment.
Surgery and recovery
According to Shaggi, his first surgery in Nigeria did not restore movement to his injured leg. After about four months, he travelled to Dubai for further treatment.
He said his condition improved after the operation there. He was able to stand with support on the second day and walk with crutches on the third.
Although he can now stand without crutches, Shaggi said he still relies on them for support as he continues recovering.
‘A second chance’
Reflecting on the experience, the comedian said he was grateful the bullet struck his hip rather than a more vital part of his body.
He described surviving the incident as a second chance at life and promised fans new projects as he works towards returning to the screen.
